Driver Training for Horseboxes

Horseboxes tend to fall into two categories:- up to and including 7.5 ton and over 7.5 ton. To drive the 7.5 ton you will need a category C1 licence and over 7.5 ton you will need a category C driving licence.

So what's the difference in the training and the test? NOTHING. The driver training and the cost is the same so, we recommend that you go straight for the category C. This will give you more options and allow you to drive a much bigger horsebox if you ever need to.

At Data Academy we have a vast experience of training drivers for horseboxes and have added value courses for those who carry live animals. We can train using our vehicle or if you prefer we can use your own vehicle and horsebox as long as it
is up to a required standard.

Even if you already have the required licence to tow a horsebox we can also provide a bespoke course to cover areas such as reversing to build your confidence.

If you want horsebox trailer training look at our Car and Horsebox page on this website.

It's important to note that if you passed your car test after Jan 97 you CANNOT drive anything that is over 3.5 ton without taking another test for at least Category C1. What this actually means is anything that is CAPABLE of carrying 3.5 ton even if you don't have it fully loaded. Confused?? Just give us a call and we will be happy to explain.
