The purpose of ADR is to increase the safety of International transport of dangerous goods - including dangerous waste by road.

In order to be legally qualified to drive a vehicle carrying dangerous goods it is possible that the driver will need to have an ADR licence.

ADR sets a threshold limit for each individual dangerous substance or article, according to the degree of danger it presents. Once this threshold is exceeded then you will need an ADR Certificate to cover the UN class of goods being carried.

Your certificate must also be valid for the mode of carriage ie “packages/ bulk” or “in tanks”.

Data Academy offers ADR courses approved by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) on behalf of the Department of Transport (DfT). We can deliver our courses at our Leicester training centre or at your own premises.

Our ADR course consists of:-

  • The Core module & packages/bulk - 3 ˝ day course
  • Tanks module - 1 ˝ day course.

We can customise your ADR course by cutting it down to suit your exact requirement.

For example, if you only carry gas cylinders you would only need Core + Packages + UN Class 2.

The minimum legal requirement is:-

However, if you carry more than one class you will need to add on the relevant UN Class. We offer both standard ADR courses and we can also tailor your course to fit your individual/company requirements.

21 hours of your ADR course can count towards your CPC periodic training.
